Biography
Dr. Dana Rizk is a renowned Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After earning her M.D. degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, she advanced her medical training in the United States. She began her residency at St. Louis University, completing her residency, chief residency, and Nephrology fellowship at Emory University.
Since joining UAB in 2008, Dr. Rizk has excelled as a clinical nephrologist, providing comprehensive patient care in inpatient, outpatient, and dialysis settings. A dedicated educator, she has mentored numerous fellows and earned multiple awards for excellence in teaching.
As an accomplished clinical researcher, Dr. Rizk serves as the site Principal Investigator for several clinical trials and NIH-funded studies. She is the Director of Clinical Trials Research in the Division of Nephrology and the Medical Director of the Clinical Trials Administrative Office. Her primary research focuses on glomerular diseases, with a particular interest in IgA nephropathy, where her work continues to advance understanding and treatment of this condition.
