New Horizons in Obesity Management returned on 17 June 2026 for its third edition, bringing together leading international experts to explore obesity as a central driver of cardio-kidney-metabolic (CKM) disease and a key contributor to multimorbidity across organ systems.
Through a series of practical, evidence-based sessions, faculty examined the latest science, clinical data and treatment strategies shaping modern obesity care. The programme introduced three dedicated specialty tracks – cardiology, primary care and obesity-focused practice – allowing attendees to follow the learning pathway most relevant to their clinical practice or explore the full spectrum of content on demand. Across the sessions, experts discussed lifestyle, pharmacological and procedural approaches, with a focus on translating emerging evidence into real-world patient care.
Led by course directors Dr Angela Fitch (Knownwell, Boston, US), Prof Richard Hobbs (University of Oxford, Oxford, UK) and Prof Nikolaus Marx (University Hospital Aachen, Aachen, DE), the programme featured a distinguished global faculty and explored how earlier intervention, multidisciplinary collaboration and evolving obesity therapies can improve outcomes across the CKM continuum.

Faculty Biographies
Angela Fitch
Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of knownwell
Dr Angela Fitch, MD, FACP, MFOMA is the past president of the Obesity Medicine Association. She practiced primary care for 10 years before becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2012. She is currently the Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of knownwell, a comprehensive longitudinal obesity treatment and primary care clinic focused on delivering unbiased non-stigmatizing care for patients with obesity throughout the country.
She is a former Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard University, the former co-director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center, a current ex-officio board member of the Obesity Action Coalition, and a founding member of the Massachusetts Coalition for Action on Obesity. Dr. Fitch is board-certified in obesity medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics.
Harold Bays
Medical Director and President
Dr Harold Bays is Medical Director and President of the Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center, US. He has served as a Principal Investigator for over 600 clinical trials of metabolic therapeutic interventions.
Dr Bays is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association, The Obesity Society, the American College of Cardiology, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the National Lipid Association, and the American Society of Preventive Cardiology.
Dr Bays has written or served as a contributing author to over 350 scientific manuscripts and book chapters and authored/presented 100’s of scientific abstracts.
